NMU at the 6th Green Port Congress

The 6th GreenPort Congress, a part of the successful tradition sequel of conferences which examine the challenges and opportunities of sustainable solutions in ports, was held in Hamburg on September from 14th to 16th 2011.
Ports and terminals have become critical aspects considering growth of trade and changing environment. Adapting to these changes and ability to respond to arising problems fast must be today’s goal. The GreenPort Congress served as a meeting place for researchers, scholars, entrepreneurs, policy and decision-makers, who discussed latest news and exchanged their ideas and best practice on ports sustainability. The emphasis of the Congress was clearly put on innovation in equipment and technology, which was supported by proposals of practical solutions.
Conference programme was highlighted by speakers from companies such as HHLA, Hamburg Port Authority as well as from the Ports of Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Dublin and Stockholm featured on the packed two-day programme. Such topics as managing environmental externalities, community relations management, adapting ports to climate change, port development and nature protection, technical innovations and manufacturers' updates on latest products, the greening of ports and the logistics chain, GHG emissions from shipping were presented and discussed.

NMU Project was disseminated by representatives from Jacobs University Bremen, Prof. Jens Froese and Indah Lengkong.
